At Connecticut Financial®, we have been stewards for an exclusive group of Successful Professionals, Senior Executives, and Business Owners since 1991. We know the questions to ask and how to coordinate the professionals for our clients.
Connecticut Financial is a fee-based financial planning and wealth management firm based in Hamden, Connecticut, in the Greater New Haven area. We work with clients across the country. Securities and investment advisory services are offered through MML Investors Services, LLC, part of the MassMutual network.
Who Is Coordinating All of This for You?
Most successful people assemble a capable team over time. A CPA. An estate attorney. A business attorney. One or more investment advisors. An insurance agent. A property and casualty agent. Each is an expert in their own field, and each works in a separate silo. The most expensive mistakes happen in the gaps between them, where no one is looking.
In our experience, unintended complacency is the root cause of financial mistakes that cost people investment opportunity, net worth, and protection from risk. We don’t know what we don’t know.
We use an architect and general contractor model. You would not add a room to your house without an architect who understands the whole structure. Connecticut Financial builds the architectural plan for your financial life, then coordinates the specialists who execute it. You do not have to replace the advisors you already have.

What Connecticut Financial Does
Connecticut Financial coordinates every part of a client’s financial life: investments, insurance, estate structures, tax position, and cash flow. The firm is not tied to one company’s product shelf, so recommendations are built around your situation rather than around a sale.
Four areas define the work:
- Fee-based financial planning. The comprehensive plan that every relationship is designed to begin with.
- Life insurance. Including overfunded life insurance, used as a planning tool for high-net-worth clients.
- Annuities. Selected, highly rated contracts positioned for contractual lifetime income.
- Premium financing. A specialty for ultra-high-net-worth clients and business owners facing estate liquidity exposure.
Since 1991, our process has helped successful professionals gain a clearer understanding of their financial health and simplify their financial lives.
How We Work
Our Process is Our Product. We don’t sell products, we sell a process.
Every relationship is designed to begin with the comprehensive financial plan, because the plan determines what you actually need before anything is recommended. The process runs across four phases: building a single unified view of your finances, stress testing your current position across disciplines, delivering a prioritized written set of recommendations, and coordinating implementation with the professionals you already work with.
Estate documents are reviewed by attorneys in house. With your permission, we speak directly with your attorneys and CPAs so our recommendations complement work already underway. Clients who continue into an ongoing relationship receive semi-annual reviews.
We listen. You decide.
Who We Work With
Connecticut Financial serves successful professionals, senior executives, and business owners, along with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families who have built assets across multiple advisors and accounts without a single coordinated strategy.
Out of the time-consuming nature of our business, we work on a referral only basis with clients who embrace the bedrock values of trust, honesty, candor, & fairness.
Simply put, Connecticut Financial’s goal is to exceed expectations, first time, every time. To achieve that goal, we always put our client’s interest ahead of any personal considerations. We would rather turn away work that is not a good fit than take on a relationship we cannot serve well.
Credentials and Affiliations
Connecticut Financial was founded in 1991 by Ray Kubick, CFP®, who has led the firm ever since. He began as an individual advisor under his own name, R.J. Kubick & Associates, and rebranded the firm as Connecticut Financial as other advisors joined, so the company and its process would carry the brand rather than one person’s name. Beyond the firm, Ray teaches financial fundamentals to Quinnipiac University business graduates and to medical residents at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Connecticut Financial is part of the MassMutual and MML Investors Services network. You can review where the firm and its advisors are licensed on our licensing page, and meet the people you would be working with on our team page.
